Once upon a time, there were two kingdoms. They were ruled by King Richard and King William. The two kingdoms had been fighting for decades, and there was never peace at the border. This is because both kingdoms wanted to be the world's strongest and greatest.

Everyone in Richard's kingdom was diligent. Unfortunately, they had a brutal king who lived in a grand palace and travelled around with gorgeous chariots at the expense of the nation's wealth. Although people had good harvest, the government collected heavy taxes from them. As such, nobody liked the king.

On the other hand, William's kingdom was not so well-off but the king loved his people. People knew how to care for each other. Instead of being greedy, they loved to share and were eager to contribute to the society. That's why everyone was willing to fight for the king.

Both kingdoms claimed that they were the strongest and greatest, so they came up with an idea. They agreed that whoever gains more territories in five-year time will win the competition and be the world's strongest and greatest kingdom.

Richard's army started off very well. They soon conquered lots of lands. The soldiers had high quality armours and weapons, and were equipped with advanced military machines like catapults and trebuchets.

Although William's army also conquered a vast amount of lands, it was much harder for them to succeed. They didn't have a well-equipped and skilful army, so it took them long time to get ready for their actions. Thus, their fighting efficiency was much lower than Richard's army.

When it seemed that nothing could stop Richard from winning, an unexpected incident happened in his own camp. After a series of battles, Richard's army camped on a hillside for rest. However, Richard thought that his army should continue to fight until they conquered all the lands from their enemies.

He punished his generals by lashing at them hard. His generals and soldiers were very angry and not willing to fight anymore, so they planned a revolution secretly. An uprising and thirst for power was underway.

One night, when Richard was asleep, his generals tied him up and brought him to William for surrender. "You shouldn't treat your people so badly. I shall put you in prison until you feel the regret of what you did", said William to Richard.

But Richard was deeply depressed that he thought it was a total failure, so he laid to rest in the end. It was a sad moment for all when the news was spread the next morning. Everyone cried soberly and wept at the news. It was a heart-breaking moment.

With Richard's demise and his generals’surrender, William not only won the competition but also the people’s heart. After years of wars, people were really tired and desired for long term peace. Everyone wanted to build a better kingdom. William's kingdom finally became the strongest and greatest of all!
