It was a nice day. Jake was reading his daily newspaper on his favourite chair. Suddenly, an alarm sounded. Jake looked outside and saw a mushroom cloud in the distance. Pulling his wife and his son, they dashed outside, dodged an incoming fireball and kept running.
Jake and his family kept running for their dear life. Jake saw a half-buried sign in the mud. It said, " BUNKER ” with an arrow pointing North. Jake gave a thumbs-up to his family and they ran in that direction. They finally found the secret bunker.
Inside they turned on the lights. It was a dusty old place filled with bottles of water. Jake wanted to explore the wastelands but he had to prepare for his trip first. He put on a moldy radioactive suit. His wife helped him put on a gas mask.
Jake took out his transmitter and started scanning the area for food. It was dark and scary. He trembled as he thought he heard strange noises everywhere.
He walked through the poisonous gases and saw a trail of tomato soup. He picked up the cans of soup, one by one, he filled his bag up with tomato soup. Little did he know those tomato soup were inedible……
Jake unloaded his bag of soup. His son, Jim was starving. He opened a can of soup and guzzled it down. Suddenly, Jim turned green. Jake stared at the soup in horror. He took out his transmitter and scanned the soup.... "I am so sorry, my son!"
Days had passed. They were still alive. But the pile of tomato soup was slowly becoming smaller and smaller. Every night, they huddled together, wishing for the war to end and the world safe again. Jim was really sick. He felt hopeless.
Jake and his family were sitting on the floor, eating the last can of tomato soup. Jake stood up. He thought he heard something. SHHHHHHKK! There it was again! Jake looked towards the radio. They all pressed their ears on the radio. “Emergency broadcast, the war is over!”
They stumbled across the empty cans of tomato soup, tears streaming down their faces. They hold their hands as they rushed to the door. Outside, sunlight showered down on them. They opened their eyes and saw……
They saw nothing. Dirt covered in toxic waste. Everything were black and gray, like the sky. Jake dropped to his knees and cried. We humans wanted to make a home for ourselves, but ended up destroying it. He stood up and promised to repair this world.
It was morning. Jake took out his walking stick and went for a walk. He walked up to the mountains. He saw the world that he repaired. He smiled and said,"Thank you for forgiving us, Mother Earth." He breathed his one last breathe and left the world. The end.1 / 12
