I live in a warm and cozy circle. I cannot move much. I feel warm and comfortable. I feel safe.

I feel I have grown bigger. Around me is water. Sometimes, I am floating. Sometimes, I am swimming. For most of the time, I am sleeping.

I start to open my eyes. I see something red. It is like a heart. No, it is like a music note. No. it is like a tadpole. No, it is my mother’s heart. It beats and pauses. It pauses and beats.

Sometimes, I expand. I run and roll and run and roll. Sometimes, I contract. I sleep and curl and sleep and curl.

One day. I find that I am tied to a string. It is so fun. I jump up and down like an astronaut.

My mother reads me bedtime stories. I like animal stories most. The mother tiger feeds the baby cubs and hugs them when they are cold. My mother treats me like cubs.

Mother talks to the dog in a friendly manner. She says English and Putonghua. I think I can speak well.

My ears can hear some music. The music is so relaxing. The music makes me sleep. The music makes me awake. The music makes me dance. I see my mother’s look. She has long brown hair. She likes red. She sings karaoke every day and night.

Then, one day, my mother rushes to the hospital. I am small. My weight is below normal. A lot of nurses in blue clothes are running here and there.

I cannot go home. I am put in a box with wires and tubes. My mother tells me not to be scared. I don’t know.

I meet a lot of friends. They live in small boxes too. They say ‘Goodbye’ to me because I am leaving the hospital.

Outside the hospital, the air smells nicer. The sky is clear. Flowers blossom. It is the beginning of a new life.
