There was once a boy called Christian who lived happily with his family in a small drab village by the sea. The village was very quiet and sometimes Christian found it very boring. One day he felt like doing something fun and exciting. He talked to his best friend, Ricky.

They decided to sail around and explore the islands nearby. As they were sailing, a big wave came and their tiny boat was knocked over. They were left unconscious. After a few hours, they woke up and found themselves on an island where everything was purple.

“Where are we?” asked Ricky worryingly. “We captured you this afternoon,” came a strange voice. The pair looked around anxiously trying to figure out where the voice came from. Then they saw a purple-looking creature sitting under a massive purple tree.

“So you were trying to invade our island?” asked the purple creature in a threatening voice. “No, sir! We were just sailing around and then we don’t know what happened,” said Christian politely. “You are all liars,” declared the creature.

The boys were put in the prison. There were many other human inmates. Christian talked to some of them and realized it was very difficult to escape from the prison. Days and weeks went by. The boys were sick of eating strange purple-looking food. They wanted to go home.

“Set us free. We haven’t committed any crime,” the pair started shouting. “Could you keep quiet? You are causing nuisance here. First you invade other people’s lands and when you get into trouble, you start playing innocent,” roared the security guard in the purple uniform.

“You are not going anywhere. So stop playing the victim.” “Sir, we had no intention to invade your beautiful island. We were just exploring around,” pleaded the boys. But the security guard did not listen to them and walked away.

The boys would shout every day and the security guard would ask them to keep quiet and go away. One day, the security guard couldn’t put up with the noise anymore and reported the boys to his seniors.

The boys were brought before the seniors and tried to explain their case. But to no avail! “Anyone who is not purple is a liar and is threat to our peace and security,” declared the seniors.

The boys were sent back to the jail with a stern warning of not making noise and disturbing the peace. Back in the prison again, the pair thought for a while and agreed to find a peaceful solution.

After much thinking, the boys came up with an idea. They tore a small piece of cloth from their purple mattresses and made it into headbands. They put on the purple headbands and started shouting the slogan, “Long Live Purple Island”.

The security guard heard the slogans and came down running. He was pleasantly surprised when he saw the boys wearing the purple headbands. He took them to his seniors who sent the pair to their king.

“We trust you and we believe you are not liars. So we set you free. You are welcome back anytime you want but remember there are certain purple etiquettes you need to follow,” informed the king. The boys left the island happily.

They shared their story with all the villagers and were sent back to the Purple Island donning purple clothes to secure the release of other human inmates. The king welcomed them and released everyone at their request. From that day onward, the boys were called “Purple Diplomats”.
