"You're so selfish! Stop it!" I fumed when my little sister Elise flung a plastic bottle into the water in Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park. I was furious. "Relax, Eva!" She mocked. "That won't do any harm to the environment." I was so heated that I rode another paddleboat alone.
"What's that?" A green shadow streaked past me. "It is a turtle!" It went into the bushes. Oh no! I must catch up! I pushed away the twigs and leaves and saw… A secret cave! I followed in immediately. The cave was dark and dingy, but miraculously, the turtle glowed.
"Why did it look so familiar? Oh! Isn't that the pier from the Reservoir Park? But the water is all gone!", I muttered. To my surprise, the turtle awkwardly opened its mouth and talked. "It's the same park in 20 years. Look at all the rubbish in the dried pond!"
"But why are there so much rubbish here?" I asked Turtle. "People produced too much rubbish and a monster called Retsnom was formed from them." Turtle explained. "There was a crystal that protects the environment from being polluted, but it was stolen by Retsnom and was hid in a landfill."
"I can't find it myself. Will you help me find it?" Turtle asked. "I'm in!" I said. We went to loads of landfills and searched for crystals and monsters. But there wasn't any signs of monsters in any of them.
Finally, we arrived at an exceptionally smelly landfill that has a humongous creature in it. "I'm… I'm sure that's Retsnom." Turtle gasped. Turtle was so exhausted that he couldn't go any further. "You must continue the journey yourself," Turtle panted. So I went up to Retsnom alone.
Holding the crystal in one hand, Retsnom turned his head when I came closer. I must find a way to make it drop the crystal. I picked up a handful of rubbish and aimed at his hand. Unfortunately, they hit the crystal. CLING!! The crystal broke into millions of pieces.
The monster pulled an old pair of scissors from his chest and threw it at me. I used a broken table as my shield. As he continued throwing his rubbish body parts at me, he shrunk smaller and smaller until all that was left was a small glowing seed.
"Where is the crystal?" Turtle asked. "It's… destroyed." Turtle bowed his head and cried. "Hey… If everyone tries their very best to make less rubbish, we can still save this world!" I comforted him. Turtle looked reassured. We got back to the real world through the cave.
When I got home I watered the seed and it broke into millions of shiny pieces which flew into everyone's body. Elise rushed up to me and said, "How about we recycle all the plastic bottles?" Now I know because of the seed, everyone in the world is environmental friendly!1 / 11
