Today was probably the worst day in my life! My bratty sister, Amanda, snuck in my room in the middle of the night and stole my alarm clock! Soon I woke up. Realising my clock was missing, I bolted out of bed. I had exactly ten minutes to school.
By the way, I am Jessica Rodda and I live with my family in California.
I could not wait for school to be over because today I was getting a new pet! My mom said it would be a puppy! I would call it Brianna.
At dinnertime, my dad announced that as part of his bug extermination contract, we have to relocate to Hong Kong! I will be going to a new school called: Kowloon International School. My dad told me it is really a popular school that everyone wants to attend.
Soon it was the first day at my new school. Everyone was nice and friendly. But there was only one person, who I envied. Her name was Rachel Walker. Everybody always called to her: ‘Wow, love your fashion Rachel’! Even the teachers remarked how great her grades are going.
In PE today, we were playing dodgeball. Usually, I am the first one out and it is seriously the worst feeling. One of the girls threw the ball, this time I dodged it, it bounced off a wall and hit Rachel’s friend, Kristy. Everybody laughed their sides off at Kristy!
Pretty soon I was the only one left, with Rachel as my opponent. The last words I heard were: Take this RODDA, and the ball slammed into my face. I felt faint and fell to the ground. Someone shouted; getttt theeee teeachherrr ! I thhinnk sheee iisss hurrrt.
Then everything turned black. Soon I heard some voices. Is she okay? Well, she will be when she recovers. I woke up with a start. I saw all my friends staring at me. My gym teacher helped me up and carried me to the nurse.
When I came back from the nurse, my teacher was lecturing Rachel about “never slam the ball into anyone's face while playing ball games”.
Rachel promised not to break rules and be nice to everybody.
The same evening, Rachel came over to my house to check on how I was feeling. I felt so surprised when I saw her at the door, I pinched myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I must say, it was very kind of her to come and visit me.
From that day, Rachel and I started to play with each other more often, and slowly, our friendship grew.
Isn’t it funny, Rachel and I started as foes, then became great friends.
