One day, Ella and her mum were watching TV. They saw an advertisement about a cooking competition. They liked cooking so they wanted to join it. Then Mum called the application hotline and signed up for the cooking competition. They felt excited about it.

Ella and her mum started to prepare for the competition. It was held a month later. They went to the library to find some recipe. Ella had an idea. She asked, ‘Mum, can we make a marshmallow cake?’ Mum said, ‘Good idea! ‘Let’s borrow and cookbook and try.’

They found a recipe in a cookbook. Then they went to buy some ingredients. They went to a fruit shop to buy fruit and then went to a supermarket to buy flour, eggs, milk, butter and marshmallow.

They got home and started making the cake. ‘Mum, how can I help?’ Ella asked. ‘Beat the egg, add some flour and milk. Stir well,’ said Mum. Then Mum added some fruit into the mixture. ‘Ella, pour it into the mould now, Mum told Ella.

After one hour, the cake was done. The cake looked nice. Ella and Mum tried the cake. Ella said, ‘Mum…it’s too hard.’ Mum ate the cake. She said, ‘Oh dear! You’re right. It’s too hard.’ We have to make it again.

They read more cookbooks because they wanted to make a better cake. Then they tried to make another cake again. This time, they put in less flour but more milk.

After making a new cake, they took it to their neighbour’s home. They asked their neighbour to try the cake and give them some advice. Their neighbour Little Chick liked it very much. ‘It’s the yummiest cake ever!’ Little Chick said. Ella and her mum were surprised.

On the day of the competition, Ella and her mum went out early. However, there was a traffic jam. Ella and her mum was worried. They were afraid that they could not get to the venue on time.

Luckily, they got there just before the competition started. They could join the competition. ‘Mum, we’re so lucky! We’re just on time,’ said Ella.

Ella and her mum finished making the cake in two hours. When they put the cake in front of the judges, the judges were so excited to see the beautiful cake. They ate the cake and it was too yummy! Finally, Ella and her mum won the competition.
